How often can I apply flea prevention to my pet?
Every 2 weeks. Bathe your pet before applying prevention. Apply 2 days after bathing, to assure absorption of the product into the oil layer of the skin.

Is aspirin safe for my pet?
While baby aspirin may not harm your dog, the dose depends on your dog’s weight. We recommend dog anti-inflammatory medications. Tylenol, naproxen and similar anti-inflammatories can be fatal in cats, even in very small doses.

When does my dog need the bordetella vaccine?
Any contact with another dog at the groomer, dog park, boarding facilities, and neighborhood dogs.

Why should I spay or neuter my pet?
Over population of animals. Males can develop testicular cancer or prostate disease (hyperplasia, infections and abscess). Females can develop mammory cancer or pyometra (infection in the uterus). Require emergency surgery. It can help with behavior problems and prevent marking in cats and dogs.

Can I use human toothpaste on my pet?
It is better to use pet flavored toothpaste. Too much fluoride can be bad for your pet.

Do I have to keep my dog on heartworm prevention year round?
Yes, Especially here in Florida. Mosquito bites are the source of heartworms.

Why does my dog need the leptospirosis vaccine?
This is a disease that dog’s get from wild animals or being exposed to contaminated water where wild animals have been (ponds and standing water).

How do I remove a tick off my pet?
Use a tweezer. Be sure to pull the head out as well. There maybe a red mark in that area.

How much Benadryl can I give my pet?
Benadryl is safe up to 3 times a day. The dose is 1mg per pound.

Does my cat need heartworm prevention?
Cats are less likely than dogs to get heartworms but some cats are susceptible. Mosquito bites are the source of heartworms.

When should I start my pet on heartworm prevention?
8-12 weeks old.

What can I use to clean my pet’s ears at home?
A 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. Commercial ear cleaners are also available.

How do I cut my pets nails?
If your pets nails are black it is harder to see where the quick (location of blood vessel and nerve). Just cut the tip of the nail. If your pet’s nails are white, cut up to the pink part you can see in the nail. If you pet’s nail begins to bleed you can use corn starch at the tip to stop.
